Strategist. Builder. Listener. Leader.

In every city, there are people working quietly behind the scenes to make streets safer, systems smarter, and public policy actually work for the public. They are not the loudest voices in the room, but they are the ones who get things done. Alyssa Alt is one of those people.

Unsung Heroes: Alyssa Alt of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Now serving the City of Colorado Springs, Alyssa is bringing her unique brand of thoughtful leadership, policy clarity, and operational insight to a fast growing city ready for its next mobility chapter. Before stepping into this new role, she spent a decade shaping and in many ways redefining how the City and County of Denver approached transportation, curb space, and access.

As Denver’s Curbside and Parking Program Manager, Alyssa led from the front, building systems, policies, and pilots that helped one of the country’s most dynamic cities adapt to the evolving demands of urban movement. From delivery and TNC (Transportation Network Company) zones to EV integration and curb mapping pilots, she was not just responding to industry trends, she was quietly setting them.

Alyssa saw the curb not as static infrastructure but as a living, high demand resource. She created frameworks that treated it that way, equitable, responsive, and built for the full spectrum of users. Her work helped Denver implement:

  • Real time curb data systems and zone management

  • Digital permitting tools that replaced outdated processes

  • Mobile payment and technology updates for on street parking

  • Bike, scooter, and shared mobility parking programs

These initiatives did not just make operations more efficient, they changed how the city thought about space, access, and fairness.

What made her work stand out was not just what she accomplished, but how she did it. Alyssa has a rare ability to bring together engineers, planners, policy teams, and frontline staff and get them all moving in the same direction. No drama. No ego. Just consistent, high quality execution.

“She is one of those rare people who can see both the big picture and the small details at the same time,” said Nina Black, Right of Way Enforcement Manager for the City and County of Denver. “Alyssa brings people together, shares credit generously, and uses her wealth of knowledge to see through the noise to pinpoint what to focus on. Working with her showed me what true collaboration and trust look like because Alyssa, like no one else I know, believes and trusts others capability to excel.”

Now in Colorado Springs, she is taking all of that expertise and putting it to work in a new context, helping the city modernize its parking programs, develop scalable systems, and lead with equity and intelligence. For Alyssa, it is not just about the next project, it is about building frameworks that will still be relevant a decade from now.

Her career spans public sector leadership, urban planning, nonprofit operations, and mobility program development. Across each chapter, her lens has been holistic: How do we make systems work for people? How do we bridge policy and operations? How do we create change that outlasts the budget cycle?

Alyssa is a reminder that lasting change is built with intention, collaboration, and a deep respect for the people systems are meant to serve. She leads without needing to be seen, and delivers without needing to be asked.

So today, we take a moment to recognize Alyssa Alt, not just for what she built in Denver, but for what she is building now in Colorado Springs.

Because while others chase headlines, Alyssa keeps building better systems. And the cities and people they serve are better for it.
